Flower growers get Rs 28 lakh

Srinagar, Apr 18: Minister of State for Horticulture and Floriculture, Javaid Ahmad Dar distributed cheques worth Rs 28 lakh among 62 growers of floriculture sector under RKVI and technical mission schemes of central government at a function held at Emporium Garden here today.
 Director, Floriculture, Dr. G.S. Naqash, Joint Director, Floriculture, Project Officer, Floriculture and Deputy Director were present on the occasion.
 Later, addressing a massive gathering of growers and other beneficiaries connected with Floriculture sector, the Minister said that the state government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister,   Omar Abdullah is committed to ameliorate the lot of farmers and growers of the state by providing them all possible technical assistance and guidance to cultivate more and more floriculture products to improve their economy.
 Giving details of the equipment procured by the department for the growers and farmers of the valley, the Minister said that four Walking Coolers have been purchased for storing the floriculture product for preservation and active marketing in the national and international markets. This, he said would benefit the people particularly the growers for ensuring the storage of their product for a particular time.
