DDC conducts anti - polythene drive

Srinagar, Apr 1: In connection with anti polythene drive in Srinagar, the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo who is also Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Srinagar conducted extensive tour of Srinagar city and inspected various markets of Maharaj gunj, Goni Khan, Naaz Cinema, Hazuri Bagh and Batamaloo Thursday.
An official handout said the Commissioner seized a huge quantity of polythene carry bags from various traders and destroyed them on spot.
On this occasion, the Commissioner warned the traders not to use polythene.
He said that stern action would be taken against those found guilty in violating the norms of saving environment of the Valley.
The Commissioner was also accompanied by SSP, Srinagar, Javed Reyaz, Joint Commissioner, SMC and other concerned officers.
