Varmul records 35k qtls fish prod

Varmul, Apr 1: About 35,000 quintals of carp fish production has been recorded from April 2009 so far in Varmul district. And the fisherman earned revenue of Rs. 35 lakh out of its sale. Besides five trout units are presently being managed by the department of Fisheries wherefrom 30 quintals of trout fish have been sold and the department earned revenue of Rs 5 lakh during the period including from one unit established in Gulmarg.
This was stated at a meeting of fisheries officers at Varmul chaired by District Development Commissioner, Varmul, B.A. Bhat. The meeting was informed that for rehabilitation of poor fishermen, work is apace on the construction of 20 low cost houses coming up at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh.
