2 hurt in leopard attack

Varmul, Apr 21: Two persons, including a woman, were critically injured when a leopard attacked them at Darakhasi Tangmarg in Varmul district last night, police said.
A leopard strayed into the village and attacked local residents injuring two of them, a police spokesman said.
While being chased by the villagers, the beast took shelter in a house and was subsequently captured by the wildlife department, he said. The injured have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Mir and Mymoona.
According to the statistics of Wildlife Department, 99 people were killed and 263 wounded in different incidents of man animal conflict in Varmul, Bandipora, Kupwara and Budgam during the past 13 years.
