Police re-allots complainant’s security
Papa Kishtwari Case

Srinagar, Apr 21: Police have re-allotted security to Zahoor Ahmad Mir, who is complainant in the Papa Kishtwari case involving killing of his father Ali Muhammad Mir, a contractor of Nishat.
Mir was allegedly killed in custody by Kishtwari, a notorious gunman, and his five other accomplices on October 29, 1996.
“On April 15, police has re-allotted my security after it withdrew two constables,” Zahoor told Greater Kashmir.
“I went underground after my security was withdrawn due to insecurity from the accused gunmen involved in my father’s killing. However, I have restarted my usual business since I got the security,’ he added.
Zahoor had filed an application before Principal District and Sessions judge Srinagar on April 10 stating that on April 8, 2010 the two police constables who were deployed on high court orders for his security since 2007 were withdrawn.
He had submitted in the court that the two trained police constables were replaced by one under trained PSO.
Zahoor had submitted that since the one accused, Maqbool Shiekh son of Lala Shiekh is still absconding, he felt threat to his life and that was apprehensive about the safety of his family members.
The court while admitting the application of Zahoor had directed the SSP Srinagar to respond immediately before the court as to why his security was removed.
Zahoor was allotted security on High Court orders in 2007 after he filed case of murder in police Station Nishat against Papa Kishtwari alleging that he was involved in the disappearance of his father.
