Woodcraft trg program concludes at BGSBU

Srinagar, Apr 21: Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Masud A Choudhary distributed cheques and certificates among four batches of trainees at the valedictory function of the skill upgradation training programme.
The programme was conducted by the university and sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
The function was attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Dean School of Management, Heads of various Departments, officers, trainees, and students, it said in a statement.
The training programme aimed at skill upgradation in woodcraft and development of entrepreneurship skill in the artisan community involved in Chickri Woodcraft, a dying craft of the region.
Under the programme two batches of nine month duration and six batches of two months duration were trained during the last one year.
In his presidential address Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the project team in organizing training programs for empowering the unemployed youth of the artisan community.
He emphasized the need for helping the trainees in establishing small scale units for promotion of wood craft that is export oriented in terms of its quality and utility.
Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri Deputy Registrar and Project Coordinator gave a powerpoint presentation about the achievements of the Training programme at the outset.
