Dowry case against Jail Superintendent

Jammu, Apr 25: Police on Sunday registered case against the Jail Superintendent on the charges of demanding dowry from his wife, sources told Greater Kashmir.
They said, wife of a Jail Superintendent lodged an FIR No. 18/2010, Under Section 498- at Women Cell Police Post Canal Road Jammu against her husband for “demanding dowry and throwing her out of the house jointly owned by the couple.”
“I along with my father were brutally assaulted and threatened by my husband at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, when I tried to meet my children”, the complainant alleged adding, “My husband is not allowing me to meet my children, who have been illegal taken as hostage by him.”
The complainant has further given a detailed account of the property, jointly owned by the couple, and alleged that she was also being denied her legal share on it. “The property includes a flat at Wazarat Road Jammu, land and house at Patnitop, land at Humhama Srinagar, land at Swarna Vihar, Jammu, land at Mishriwala, Jammu and a car.
When contacted the Station House Officer (SHO) Women Cell, Shakti Devi, confirmed that the FIR has been lodged against the police officer. “We are verifying the allegations leveled by the complainant and further action will be taken after investigations are competed,” she said
