PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION MUST NOT REJECT THE DEGREES SOUGHT THROUGH DISTANCE. ALL GOVERNMENTS HAVE LENT THESE INSTITUTIONS THE LEGITIMACY ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. DISOWNING THEM AT THIS JUNCTURE WILL BE DOING A GREAT INJUSTICE. DON'T SINGLE US OUT. GIVE US

I was shocked to read that PSC will not entertain those who have acquired their PG Degrees through distance  learning from the universities other than IGNOU, KU and DOAECC especially in Information
Technology. Is there any specific reason for this. If it is the question of capability of those who have got their IT degrees from universities other than mentioned above,  then why doesn't PSC give them a chance to prove their  worth by conducting the  interview of these candidates instead of ruling them out at the first place. we don’t demand our  job’s however  we just want PSC  to consider us on the basis of recognition from DEC and AICTE. There are many students from these universities who are already proving their worth in the field of software development, computer networks and web development in multinational companies. Why PSC is stopping them from sharing their expertise with the students of the valley so that they too can excel in the field of IT. When government of India had clarified its position in respect of recognition of degrees, earned through the distance mode for employment under it vide gazette Notification no 44 dated 1-3-1995 and the universities that are already recognized by DEC, UGC, AICTE and ministry of HRD for  these courses, then why this discrimination ?  The government of Jammu and Kashmir must take a note of it that the talented resources of these universities are already being utilized by the number of multinational companies throughout  the world. Their talent and exposure to the latest technologies can  bring the revolution to Jammu and Kashmir in the field of Information technology. It is also worthwhile to mention that it is only recently that universities in our state are offering courses in computers and IT. Few years back there was no such course being offered by these universities. So the students who were desirous of making IT their  career had limited opportunities. Distance mode was the only option left for them owing to their economic backwardness
because it needed a lot of money to get admission in universities outside the state through regular mode. Furthermore, where was the then government and other related authorities when these universities established these study centers here in our state? How the government could afford to risk the careers of hundreds of students who joined these study centers for various IT courses. In
our  state the ministers of the then government participated  in various functions organised by these study centers, thereby sending wrong signals
to these students who thought there was nothing wrong with their degrees. Thus government itself is responsible for all this.
