Injured-on-duty PDD daily-wagers seek regularization
MOAZUM MUHAMMAD
Srinagar, Apr 28: The daily wagers of the Power Development Department, whose body parts have been amputated due to electrocution on duty, Wednesday staged protests here against the Government to press their demand of compensation and regularization of services.
Several handicapped employees narrated their stories at Lal Chowk. Abdur Rashid told Greater Kashmir that while performing his duties in 2005, an electric shock lead to amputation of both his hands. “I have three daughters and am without hands. How can I support my family? I live in misery struggling without any financial support,” he said.
The protesters said they would be holding protests on Labour Day in Sher-i-Kashmir here on May 1.
Provincial President All J&K Daily Wagers Union, Sheikh Tariq, said that more than 40 daily wagers were consumed by these incidents while 110 persons were handicapped while performing their duties during the past some years.
