Jammu, Apr 28: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has welcomed the statement of Pak Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the need of dialogue between India and Pakistan for the larger interests for peace and development in the sub- continent.
Omar said that the bilateral dialogue between the two neighbours is the only means to address the problems and find permanent solution to the issues amicably in tandem with the aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“In my opinion there should be regular and continuous dialogue between the two countries on
every issue. Talks should never be put on the backburner”, he said and maintained that even to register concerns and complaints on particular issues, talks are the only recourse.
The Chief Minister said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have traversed a dark tunnel of uncertainty and violence during last two decades. “Dialogue can lead to the light on the other side of the tunnel and every stakeholder in peace and development has to capitalise on the opportunities to workout a solution across the table”, he said.
Omar said the dialogue will not only help resolve complex issues but pave the way for bilateral cooperation between the two countries even on apolitical areas like education, health, climate change, social service and culture.
