Civic bodies roll revision date extended

Jammu, Apr 2: The JK Chief Electoral Officer today extended the schedule for revision of Municipal Electoral Rolls by 10 days, indicating delay in conducting the civic polls in the state.
 Sources revealed that the CEO issued a notification, here this evening extending the schedule till April 24. The final publication of Electoral rolls will be now be issued on April 24, insisted of April 12, as announced earlier, sources revealed.
 They said that the elections delay in the revision of electoral rolls will also lead to delay in the polls.
 Greater Kashmir was first to report that the government was contemplating to delay the polls after demand emerging from some parts of the state, especially Kashmir region.
 The schedule for electoral rolls for two Municipal Corporations, six Councils and 57 Committees was announced on March 21, 2010.
