Computer education imperative for skill development: Bhalla

Jammu, Apr 2: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation,   Raman Bhalla today said that the Government is committed to skill development and creating of job avenues for youth, adding that creation of new polytechnics in the uncovered districts of the State will go a long way in skill up gradation and development of human resources which will enhance employability in the private sector.
 The Minister said this after launching Website www.nitt.in of National Institute for Technical Trainings (NIIT) at Gandhi Nagar, here today.
 Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Coalition Government has launched various initiatives to spread computer education and for this purpose the Information Technology department has been pivotal for providing guidance to the youth in this field. He called upon parents to send their wards to computer institutions for gaining knowledge in computer education. He said that Government has also introduced computer courses in schools and colleges enabling the youth to compete at national and international level and the computer education has become essential in Government Offices, Schools, Colleges, and Hospitals as well as in private sectors, he added.
  The Minister asked the unemployed youth to take maximum benefits of rural industry like beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, floriculture, aromatic and medicinal plants and other agro-based industries for establishing their own ventures. He said that all District Industries Centres have been asked to conduct special awareness camps for the purpose.
 Giving achievements registered by the coalition Government,   Bhalla said that due to efforts of Chief Minister,   Omar Abdullah, the Centre has enhanced cash assistance of Kashmiri Migrants from Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000 since July 2009.
 Bhalla said that for proper rehabilitation of displaced families of valley, the Centre Government has approved Rs. 1618.40 Crore package besides,3000 posts for migrant unemployed youth has been created. He said that Government has also constructed a township of 4218 flats at Jagti at a cost of Rs. 295 Crore for accommodating Kashmiri migrants and Phase-I of the township would be completed by May, 2010 and Phase-II till October 2010, he added.
 Relief Commissioner (M)   Vinod Koul, Chairman Amar Balidan Trust   A. N. Vaishanavi, teaching and non-teaching staff members and students were present on the occasion. Earlier, the Minister also laid foundation stone for construction of 4000 sq ft. long lanes and drains at Model Town in Gangyal, coming at an estimated cost of Rs. 17 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the work within stipulated time frame by using quality material.
