Protests in valley

Srinagar, Apr 2: Pro-freedom protests were witnessed in several parts of the Valley today as youth took to streets after Friday prayers.
Several youth and a policeman were injured in the clashes.
Witnesses said that youth staged pro-freedom protests after Friday prayers near Cement Bridge in Varmul town. Policemen tried to disperse the protesters by chasing them away. However, protesters pelted stones on policemen triggering clashes in which a policeman was injured.
In several parts of the old city areas here including Nowhatta, Saraf Kadal, Rajouri Kadal and Nawa Kadal, youth shouting pro-freedom slogans staged protests after the prayers.
Police tried to disperse the protesters by baton charging and firing teargas shells on them. However, the protesters regrouped and pelted stones on them triggering clashes.
