Clashes during SP rally in Bhaderwah

Jammu, Apr 29: Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a Samajwadi Party leader fired in air after clashes between party workers and shopkeepers broke out today during a public meeting in Doda district, officials said.
Five persons, including two policemen, were injured in the clashes and stone pelting, they said.
The incident took place when Jammu and Kashmir SP president Sheikh Abdul Rehman was addressing a rally in Seri Bazar area of Bhaderwah town.
Speaking at the occasion, Rehman lashed out at BJP, holding it responsible for the Babri Masjid demolition. The SP leader also alleged that the saffron party’s Hindutva agenda was dividing the country.
His words apparently angered pro-BJP shopkeepers of Seri Bazar who pelted stones and disrupted the rally, to which the SP workers retaliated. The clash lasted for over 20 minutes.
PSO of Rehman fired in the air and escorted the leader out of the scene.
Police rushed to the spot and later controlled the situation, they said, adding five persons were injured in the clash.
