GK NEWS NETWORK
Varmul, Apr 29: Tension prevailed in Varmul town for some time Thursday afternoon when youth pelted stones on some vehicles carrying Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) engineers and some foreign consultants along with deputy commissioner Varmul, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, at Cement Bridge, prompting the police guards of DC to fire some rounds in air.
Reports said the youth mistook the vehicles as some minister’s cavalcade. No one was hurt in the incident which took place at around 4:30 pm. However, the DC’s vehicle was damaged in the stone-pelting by the youth, who soon fled from the scene. Normal activities remained briefly suspended following the incident.
The incident came barely a day after the Varmul Police organised a ‘Police-Public’ meet to win people’s confidence.
