JK yields Rs 600 cr excise duty in 2009-10

Jammu, Apr 3: Minister for Finance and Planning Abdul Rahim Rather today inaugurated Excise and Taxation Training Institute (ETTI), Guest House, Nagrota Jammu, completed at a cost of Rs.10.50 lakh.
Appreciating the officers of Excise Department for achieving a revenue target of Rs.596 crore during 2009-10 which was Rs.79 crore above from the corresponding period of last year. He hoped that the officers will achieve more revenue targets in future also.
The Minister was informed that a formal scheme, drafted by the R&B Department, worth Rs.5.53 crore for construction of a full fledged Institute has been submitted to the Finance Department for accord of Administrative approval and release of funds.
Later, the Minister inspected the Administrative Block, including training hall of (ETTI), Nagrota and interacted with the trainees. The Minister was informed that 189 officials of Excise and Commercial Taxes departments, under various categories, included Inspector, Sub Inspector and Excise Guard have been imparted necessary training during the year 2009-10. The Minister was also briefed about the working and functioning of the ETTI.
