Srinagar, Apr 3: The High Court Saturday quashed the detention under Public Safety Act of Hurriyat Conference (G) leader Firdous Shah and directed the state to release him if not required in some other case.
Meanwhile, two senior Hurriyat (G) leaders- Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi - were presented in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, where their case was listed for hearing. The court directed the state to file detailed report in the arrest of the duo on next date of hearing fixed on April 8.
The duo has been detained under Public Safety Act. Sumjhi objected for being brought handcuffed before the court. The court subsequently directed the police to remove the pro-freedom leader’s handcuffs.
