FIL–a success story in food processing, CA storage

Srinagar, Apr 4: The FIL Industries Limited has, over the years, diversified its business to become a leading conglomerate offering quality products and services domestically and internationally.
The company plays a pioneering role in food processing and controlled atmospheric storage facilities in India, FIL Joint Managing Director, Syed Tariq Bukhari, told Greater Kashmir. He said the FIL Industries, the largest business house in Jammu and Kashmir had four core divisions, including Crop Protection, Consumer, Food and Beverage and Warehouse.
CROP PROTECTION
The FIL supplies variety of pesticides, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. It has its manufacturing units at Bari Brahmana, Jammu, and technical tie-ups with leading international business houses.
CONSUMER DIVISION
In its quest to redefine fruit processing industry in India, the consumer division was set up at SIDCO Electronic Complex, Rangreth, over a decade ago with development of one of the largest fruit processing plants in Asia. The division is primarily engaged in the manufacture and export of fruit juice concentrate and is the leading supplier to multinational brands. It has the capacity of crushing 1.5 lakh ton apples annually. The machines have been procured from Germany, Italy, UK and Switzerland.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
The launch of FIL’s Food and Beverage Division into the domestic retail market was a natural by-product of its cohesive vision for the consumer industry. Keeping in mind the distinct tastes of customers, FIL offers wide ranging options of juice and beverage that are a perfect combination of taste and nutrition.
The product range is brought in tetra-pak and PET bottles which retain juice freshness. Some of the leading products include Kashmir Apple, Apple Guava, Tuk 3, Frugo Apple, Frugo Mango.
WAREHOUSING DIVISION
This division was set up to provide comprehensive post-harvest management facilities to farmers through Controlled Atmospheric Storage. It is among the top three companies in India to have invested in the development of CA storage with an integrated capacity of 10,000 MT along with the state-of-the-art packing and grading line. The company has been the pioneer in bringing the facility to India and other leading business houses have followed it.
