Don’t bribe cops for verifications: SP to people
PARVAIZ RESHI
Ganderbal, Apr 5: The Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal Mir Imtiyaz Hussain has asked the passport applicants not to bribe cops for verifications.
“I have received complaints about policemen demanding money for the verification thereby maligning the image of police. I urge the people to identify the policemen so that action could be initiated against them,” Imtiyaz Hussain told Greater Kashmir.
He said a separate column was put in the verification form asking people to certify that they hadn’t provided any money for the process.
He appealed the people to complain on his personal phone numbers 9419009457, 01942416443 if anybody in uniform demands bribe.
“Police is not to harass or extort money from the people, but to protect them,” he said.
