Anti-parking drive in Varmul evokes resentment

ALTAF BABA

Varmul, Apr 8: To curb the problem of wrong parking in the town, police on Thursday launched a drive against the offenders.
Though people appreciated the drive, but they maintained that in the absence of parking slots, they were forced to park their vehicles along roadside.
“I cannot park the car in my shop. So in absence of parking slots the drive against wrong parking is totally uncalled for,” said an angry shopkeeper of Tehsil Road.
Police said it has seized dozens of vehicles which were wrongly parked. Although the administration had identified a parking space in the main Chowk of the town, but it was yet to be developed.
However, many people appreciated the drive.
“The drive against wrong parking is a good move as it will lessen traffic jams which have become a routine in the town. The growing number of street vendors also hampers smooth flow of the traffic.”
