No strikes
About four lakh employees are again on strike. According to them, Government failed to call them for final negotiations. The demands on part of the employees include releasing pending arrears, regularization of consolidated daily wagers, removal of disparity in House Rent Allowance, removal of pay anomalies and enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60. A sharp comparison between salaried class and small time traders, peasants, and labourers directly lead us to the conclusion that the employees are no longer justified in their demands.
So far as the teacher community is concerned, their participation in the strike is not fair. Poor performance of government teachers is obvious from the Board results. In comparison to the teachers of private schools, government teachers are highly paid. Yet the performance of private schools is much better. Our teacher community is frequently observing strikes, thereby marring the future of poor students. It is right time for the Government to take some revolutionary steps in this regard and put an end to the strike once and for all.
