SKUAST to hold 53rd annual maize workshop

Srinagar, Apr 8: The SK University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology is holding the 53rd Annual Maize Workshop in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) from April 10.
The three-day event will deliberate and debate various issues concerning production and productivity, scientific management and other related aspects of the maize.
Experts of national and international repute will be attending the workshop, the university in a statement here said.
Giving details it said there will be technical and other scientific sessions during the workshop.
To mention maize is a multipurpose foodgrain valued as food, feed and industrial raw materials. It is essential item for food security in tribal and hilly areas. Before rabi crop is ready corn is grown for green cobs. It has more protein than rice and wheat.
