Be serious
This refers to the statement by Home Minister P Chidambaram in Rajya Sabha that the centre is keen to fulfill its promises including those on Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and reducing of military personnel in the state. He can’t fool Kashmiris like this. Kashmiris have been calling for demilitarization for years now, but the Government of India has deployed more forces in the state. Chidambaram said that “it is important to win the hearts and minds of people of J&K but how is it possible when more forces are being deployed. We have lost 50 innocent lives in the past two months but the Home Minister still says that “forces are exercising restraint.” Making false statements won’t do. It is time to act and solve the dispute.
