FCI contests police report

Srinagar, Aug 9: The Food Corporation of India today refuted a news item carried by a section of press here which had reported that the villagers of Hygam Sopur on Friday night “broke open the shutters of Food and Supplies store in the area and took away 1300 quintals of rotten (food) dumped by FCI for destroying.”
Area manager, FCI, Srinagar, Rajendra Gupta told Greater Kashmir that FCI had not dumped any food stocks in the store mentioned in the news item.
“This is totally wrong. The store mentioned in the news item belongs to CAPD and not to the FCI. We don’t store our food stocks in CAPD godowns,” he said.
He said: “The food stocks that we have in our godowns in the Valley are in good condition.”
