I will defy house arrest on Friday: Mirwaiz

‘OFFER PRAYERS AT JAMIA MASJID’

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Aug 9: Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday said he would defy the house arrest on Friday and offer congregational prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid here.
In a statement, a Hurriyat spokesman said Mirwaiz who is under house arrest for over a month, was denied by authorities to offer prayers for six consecutive Fridays at the Central Masjid.
“On the occasion of first Friday of Ramadhan, I will defy the house arrest and offer prayers at Jamia Masjid,” the spokesman quoting Mirwaiz said. He said on the occasion, special prayers would be offered for 51 persons killed by CRPF and police during the last two month.
Mirwaiz has urged the people to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid on Friday.
“History stands testimony to the fact that the rulers of Kashmir including Dogras and Sikhs have targeted Jamia Masjid to quell the aspirations of Kashmiris. Today New Delhi has repeated the black history by denying Kashmir their religious rights,” Mirwaiz said.
Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to Fida Nabi and Rameez Ahmad of Umarabad and Sopur respectively who were injured in troopers firing and succumbed to their injuries.
