IUST students: no need to panic

This refers to the news item titled “IUST Students Stranded in Leh...” (GK August 09)/. It reads that the students of IUST face severe hardships and are just surviving on water. The report is not based on facts and the university refutes such baseles allegations. Such reports are sure to create panic among parents. Given the magnitude of the calamity in Leh,  university understands  the  anxiety and concern  of the parents.  But let me  assure the parents that the students are safe and provided with all possible facilities including food  medical facilities in hotel Thongsal Leh. The students are looked after by senior and responsible members of staff who are in touch with the university authorities. University has been in touch with the divisional administration and also with the Chief Minister's Secretariat. The staff and the students have also met Chief Minister during his  visit to Leh. We were assured that some arrangements will be made for  safe and early return of students to Srinagar.
