Jama’at assures protection to minorities

Srinagar, Aug 9: Jama’at-e-Islami J&K has assured to provide protection to the life, honour and property of all minority communities living in Valley.
“Jama’at has always been championing the cause of communal amity, brotherhood and religious tolerance and its members have always played a vital role in providing protection to the minorities. It will spare no efforts in providing protection to Pandits, Sikhs and other minorities living in Valley. We appeal to the people to maintain mutual amity and brotherhood at all levels,” said Jama’at spokesman.
He said all permanent residents of J&K irrespective of their religion, creed or colour have irrevocable right to live in the state and every such individual had the right to practice his religion. “There is no scope for coercion with regard to profession of faith in Islam. Whosoever intimidates any member of minority community to leave Kashmir under the cover of freedom movement is the open enemy of humanity and his claims of being pro-movement are meaningless,” he said.
