MPs express grief
New Delhi, Aug 9: The Parliament Members today expressed sorrow over the loss of life and property in the flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir last week.
“The House expresses its profound sorrow over the loss of life and property due this catastrophe,” Lok Sabha speaker, Meira Kumar said.
In the Rajya Sabha, chairman Hamid Ansari read out a condolence message on the tragedy in which more than 145 persons were killed. Ansari said efforts were on to restore normalcy in the region and offered heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of the dead and injured.
Members in both the Houses stood in silence in the memory of the victims of the tragedy.
