PDP plays
Muzaffar Baig seems to be explicitly bold enough to have revealed party’s ultimate and intrinsic political obsession of Kashmir being considered by his party as a part of India, indirectly, during a discussion on Kashmir’s prevailing situation on NDTV.
While PDP patrons; Mufti Sayed and his vociferous daughter Mehbooba Mufti are engaged in tireless efforts to gain political leverage out of the present Kashmir turmoil by portraying the party as a champion of advocating final settlement of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of its people, Muzaffar Baig, the PDP stalwart has mindfully given signals to New Delhi that it’s party is not different from National Conference so far as Kashmir’s final destination is concerned. Mr. Baig has timely exposed his party’s ultimate agenda and duplicity of its leaders.
In Kashmir every political party has two faces. The Inner and the Outer. While outer face is meant for vote politics in the state, the inner and the real face is meant for making themselves compatible with New Delhi’s commandments. Mr. Baig and the PDP top brass must have realized that governments in Kashmir are somehow voted in Kashmir but finally framed in New Delhi. Without New Delhi’s approval no government is possible in this state, even if a party emerges as the single largest one in the state legislative assembly elections. That is why PDP chief Mehboobaji instead of distancing her party stance from Baig’s comments, has called it simply , “needless” keeping in view the gravity of situation in the valley. It is well understood that it has enough scope to become ‘needful’ in future, once the situation improves and when it comes to dealing with New Delhi.
