Sumji arrested

Srinagar, Aug 9: Police on Monday arrested Hurriyat Conference (G) leader, Ghulam Nabi Sumji, who is also a close aide of Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Sumji was the acting Chairman of the Hurriyat in the absence of Geelani and he was one of three persons who issued protest programs on weekly basis in the past two months.
He was taken into custody from old Srinagar on the basis of information provided by local police and was immediately whisked away to an unknown destination.
Police said Sumji, who was released recently after long detention, was likely to be booked again under Public Safety Act and shifted outside the Valley.
