CLMC for withdrawal of armed forces from Kashmir
Hyderabad, Aug 10: The Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMC) on Tuesday organized a sit-in in the Andhra Pradesh capital to protest against the killing of teenagers in ongoing protests in Kashmir and demanded an end to all violent actions immediately. The Hyderabad protesters also demanded withdr awal of the armed forces from civilian areas immediately, handover of law and order to the state government and release of all the people arrested during demonstration and agitations.
Constitution of a judicial enquiry with a sitting judge of Supreme Court on all incidents of violence allegedly by the Armed Forces, repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and initiation of unconditional dialogue with the representatives of people of Kashmir were among other major demands of the group.“We believe that only the announcements of these measures by India can restore normalcy and instill sense of confidence about its democratic intentions and credibility among people of Kashmir as well India,” Lateef Muhammad Khan, General Secretary of CLMC said.
