CLOUDBURST AT YUSMARG
Structures, crops damaged
Budgam, Aug 10: A cloudburst in upper reaches of Yusmarg forest inundated the low lying areas and damaged many structures at Nagbal and Nowgam Basti on Tuesday evening.
According to official sources, the cloudburst caused a breach in Munshi canal due to which the water inundated the low lying area of Nagbal. Some of the houses and hotel Sangarmal suffered damage due to the gushing water, they said adding the water also caused extensive damage to the crops and washed away land at many places.
They said the water also caused damaged to the Dhoks at Nowgam Basti wherein many cattle were perished.
When contacted the District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Muhammad Rafi confirmed the incident and said a team of revenue officials was dispatched to the affected areas. “Their hasn’t been any loss of life, but property has suffered damages,” Muhammad Rafi said. He said a team would be dispatched on Wednesday morning to repair the canal.
