Donate salary: CM to ministers, employees

LEH TRAGEDY

Srinagar, Aug 10: Expressing grief over the death and destruction caused by the cloudburst in Leh, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday appealed to his cabinet colleagues to donate one month’s salary for rehabilitation of the victims.
The appeal for contribution to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was made here by Omar at a cabinet meeting chaired by him, an official spokesman said.
The spokesman said legislators and government employees would also be requested to donate their one week’s and one day’s salary, respectively, to augment the resources for relief and rehabilitation.
The cabinet also expressed concern over damage caused by flash floods in several other parts of the state including Kargil.
