Malik referred for specialized treatment

Srinagar, Aug 10: The ailing chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is under arrest for the past over two months, has been referred by doctors here for specialized treatment at New Delhi.
Malik, who has been suffering from heart ailment and is lodged in Police Station Kothi Bagh here, was taken to SKIMS for medical examination today. A JKLF spokesman said cardiologist Prof Khurshid Iqbal has referred Malik for specialized treatment at New Delhi.
“I am referring Muhammad Yasin Malik, a 42-year old patient with aortic valve replacement done about 18 years back. Lately he had been detected to have developed an aortic valve gradient. Since a Trans-Esophageal Echo is not available here, he is bring referred to you for assessment,” Prof Khurshid Iqbal writes in a letter to Prof U Kaul, senior interventional cardiologist at Fortis Escorts New Delhi.
The spokesman said Malik also met the youth in SKIMS who were injured in police and CRPF firing during past over two months.
Malik had launched Jail Bharo movement to protest over the civilian killings in the Valley. He was arrested on June 18 and shifted to Central Jail here. He was later released and rearrested. Since then he is lodged in Kothi Bagh Police Station.
