Give Kashmiris right to self-determination: Mir
Srinagar, Aug 11: The senior vice-chairman of JKLF (R) Javid Mir on Wednesday strongly condemned the unabated civilian killings by troopers and police over the past over two months.
Mir who was released after over a month on yesterday, said the Kashmiris will continue to fight till they achieve the right to self-determination. He endorsed the ongoing protest program called by Hurriyat (G) and urged the people to make it successful.
Reacting to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh’s statement, he accused New Delhi of trying to hold the Kashmir by its military mighty. “Since 1947, India has been trying to suppress the sentiments of Kashmiris by using oppressive tactics. However, Kashmiris have always shown resilience and are valiantly fighting for their rights. India was trying to project Kashmir as an unemployement and economic problem. But the world is aware about the aspirations of Kashmiris and ground realities in the Valley,” he said.
Mir strongly condemned the arrest of pro-freedom leaders and youth and demanded their immediate release. Mir castigated the Government for continuously putting the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and disallowing him to offer congregation prayers for seven consecutive Fridays.
Mir also condemned the harassment of families of pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat (G) general secretary Masarat Alam.
