Not averse
This refers to the article “This is just suicidal" by Syeda Afshana (GK Aug 8). The author seems to be unaware of the fact that separatist camp, Hurriyat (G) in particular is not averse to the dialogue process with India. But first of all we have to be sure what the dialogue is all about. This is the reason why Syed Ali Shah Geelani rejected the talks offer by Home Minister P. Chidambaram and maintained that he won’t indulge in any dialogue process unless India accepts Kashmir as a disputed territory, withdraw its troops from the valley and implements the UN resolution (Geelani rejects, G.K. August-07). Moreover the five point formula, the author describes isn’t new as it has been put forward by various separatist leaders and in fact these points are self contained in the “right to self determination” which Gelani has time and again advocated.
