PM speech
This refers to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s speech in New Delhi regarding the Kashmir situation. It is unfortunate that India is looking at Kashmir from the prism of economics or security. Kashmir is a political issue and needs political solution. We must not forget that people here are demanding right to self determination. The mass uprising in Kashmir this time is not about jobs. So the Prime Minister should not have promised any jobs at this juncture. They want to give the world an idea that people in Kashmir are out on the streets demanding jobs, which is not true. The Prime Minister said forces should not be demoralized. Does he mean that people should be demoralized then? It is a sorry state of affairs that India is sidelining the actual issues in Kashmir.
