Bakshi Stadium sealed for I-Day parade

Srinagar, Aug 14: In the run up to the I-Day function, authorities have sounded high alert across the Valley while as the security has been beefed up around the Bakshi Stadium here—the main venue for the function.
Amid tense situation in the Valley the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is scheduled to take salute at the ceremonial parade and the unfurl tri-color at the main I-Day function to be held at Bakshi stadium. Police and paramilitary troops have sealed all the roads leading to the stadium and set up drop-gates at various places with troopers frisking every passing vehicle.
Authorities have already placed sharp shooters on the top of various buildings in different areas around the stadium for security reasons, a local news agency KNS said. The stadium has already been handed over to specially trained forces for ensuring complete security during the function.
The I-Day functions would also be held at district headquarters including Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Islamabad, Shopian and Budgam. Police and paramilitary CRPF troopers have been asked to remain on high alert in the districts to avoid and untoward incident.
