Geelani announces 10-day protest program
No Strike On Tuesdays, Friday Afternoon

Srinagar, Aug 15: Maintaining that the ongoing agitation has reached a decisive phase due to the sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiris, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on Sunday vowed to take the movement to its logical conclusion.
Geelani whose conglomerate is spearheading the ongoing “Quit Jammu and Kashmir
Movement” today released a 10-day protest program. It comprises strikes, sit-ins and relaxation for full days on Tuesdays and for a half day on Friday.
“The movement has reached a decisive phase. Kashmiris have taken over the mantle of achieving the right to self-determination.
From 9-year old boy to 65 year old man, over 60 people have sacrificed their lives for the just cause. No power or military might can stop the public revolution. I salute the courage and resilience of Kashmiris,” Geelani who is undergoing treatment in SKIMS Soura told Greater Kashmir.
Geelani accused New Delhi of trying to crush the ongoing movement. “The troopers and policemen have become so brutal that even after firing bullets on the youth, they ruthlessly thrash them to ensure their death. This is sheer barbarism,” he said.
The veteran leader expressed gratitude to people of Muslims areas in Jammu region and Uri for extending support to the ongoing agitation.
Geelani urged people to observe strike and stage a sit-in from Fajar to Asar prayers on Monday August 16. He asked Imams to recite Qunat-e-Nazila after the prayers. After the Taraweh prayers, people have been asked to register protest through loud-speakers of local Masjids. On the same day, the employees have been urged to donate Rs 100 towards Bait-ul-Malls in their respective localities.
The veteran leader said there would be no strike on Tuesday August 17. However, he urged transporters and people to hoist black flags on their vehicles, scooters and motorcycles.
“After purchasing essential items, people should visit the hospitals to express sympathies with the injured persons,” he said.
On Wednesday, August 18, people of Srinagar have been urged to march towards HMT to pay tributes of those killed in the locality. Similarly, the people of Varmul, Bandipore Kupwara, Islamabad to respective district headquarters and houses of those killed in troopers and police firing. People have been urged to display ‘Go India Go’ slogans on placards and on internet social networking sites.
On Thursday, August 19, the conglomerate has called for a complete strike to express sympathy with those killed in troopers and police action in the past 2-months and for all the Kashmiris languishing in different jails. Besides, people have been asked to stage protests after every prayer for five minutes.
On Friday, August 20 there will be strike till 12 noon. The conglomerate has urged people to wear white clothes and stage peaceful protests after Friday prayers including outside the Central Masjids in Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Lower Munda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Banihal.
On Saturday, August 21, there would be complete strike. On Sunday, August 22 the Conglomerate has called for peaceful protests. It has also urged the people of rural areas to ferry relief to Srinagar and undertake restocking of the Bait-ul-Malls.
It has appealed the youth to volunteer themselves for undertaking cleanliness operation in their respective areas.
On Monday August 23 people have been asked to stage peaceful protests from Fajr to Asar prayers. On Tuesday, August 24 there would be no strike. However, on August 25, Wednesday the conglomerate has called for strike and sit-ins at respective localities. On the same day, the party will issue a new calendar.
