No PDP leader at I-day function

Srinagar, Aug 15: No party leader or legislator from the opposition People’s Democratic Party was present at the official I-day celebrations at Baskshi Stadium here on Sunday as they were not invited to the function.
“Barring the party president,Mehbooba Mufti, and deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Sartaj Madani, no member or party legislator received any invitation from the government,” the PDP spokesman,Nayeem Akhtar said.
This is for the first time that the legislators from the opposition party have been left out of the official August 15 function.
He said that Mehbooba Mufti couldn’t attend the function as she was out of the state.
However,senior party leader, Sartaj Madani, who is the deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly, attended the function.
