Shahid-ul-Islam castigates mainstream parties
‘Shun vote bank politics and join our struggle’
Srinagar, Aug 15: Senior leader of Hurriyat Conference (M) Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam on Sunday asked the mainstream parties to shun power politics and join the freedom movement.
“They should see the writing on the wall and learn lessons from the ongoing uprising. If these parties are sincere they should quit power politics and join the freedom movement. The pro-India parties NC and PDP should know that they can’t take the Kashmiris for granted,” he said.
He said that baton of Azadi has passed to next generation and these politicians would have to face tough time with every passing day.
He said that mainstream parties are shedding crocodile tears for strengthening vote bank politics and have no sympathy with Kashmiris being killed by the forces
Condemning the killings of more than 50 youth in the Valley since June 11, he said unbridled forces have unleashed reign of terror.
He also demanded immediate release of hundreds of the youth languishing in jails across the state.
“The students and medicos who staged peaceful protests as part of their democratic right were put behind bars by Jammu police under pressure from right wing organizations,”he said.
He also condemned the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He also demanded immediate release of pro-freedom leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Dr Qasim Faktoo.
