In response to Firdous Syed's article

This refers to Firdous Syed's article, Wish you well Pakistan (GK August 14th). We must not forget that Kashmir is nothing more than a contiguous Muslim majority region of Pakistan which has gone to the wrong side of the great divide of 1947. Delinking Pakistan from Kashmir issue is a disservice to the Kashmir cause fraught with fatal consequences. In the long run, this will reduce it from an accepted international issue of great significance to an internal problem of Indian state. Contrary to the views of the author, Pakistan is a source of strength for our movement. Pakistan is not just a country for Kashmiris but a political entity which Kashmiri Muslims think themselves a part of.
It is not a simple dispute over a territory between two states. Rather, it is a great conflict about a vast Muslim region contiguous to Pakistan. Unfortunately it has been possessed by India through sheer force.
