Paper scheme
Students are important stakeholders in any education system. And whenever any decision is taken pertaining to students’ future, they ought to be consulted. One fails to understand why the Department of Education, Minister for Education, Board of School Education didn’t consult the stakeholders when it decided to implement the single paper scheme for class 12th from this academic session. When the same decision was taken for class 10th in March this year, all the stakeholders were consulted. Some workshops were held in which teachers and students were of the opinion that the single paper scheme for 12th must be implemented from 2011. The BOSE accordingly issued a notification. Then why did it all of a sudden change the decision? If all sectors have been affected by the ongoing crisis, why is the student community being targeted this way? Let the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah intervene and save the students’ career. The students are confused on the new paper scheme and won’t be able to prepare in accordance with it. The government cannot train guns on students who happen to be the future of the nation.
