DGP, Joint Director IB visit police stations

Srinagar, Aug 23: The Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda on Monday visited various police stations in Srinagar and Budgam to take the stock of prevailing law and order scenario in these areas, an official spokesman said.
He said the DGP was accompanied by Special DG (CRPF), Joint Director IB and senior Police and CRPF officers.
The DGP, according to the spokesman, held meetings with the police and CRPF officers and discussed the strategies to tackle the present situation.
“Concerned Station House Officer briefed the DGP about the methods adopted by the forces to tackle the challenges,” the spokesman said.
He said the suggestions were sought from the field officers for ensuring protection of lives of the people and public property. Deployment of manpower and drill of withdrawal was also discussed.
“During the meetings, the DGP stressed for effective deployment while dealing with law and order situations in the area,” he added.
He urged the force personnel to use minimum force to avoid loss of life and property.
“The DGP appreciated the role of police and other security agencies. He was apprised by the concerned SSPs, and SDPOs about arrests of the miscreants to curb their activities. He also stressed for better communication among various law enforcing agencies to yield good results,” the spokesman added.
“The DGP announced one rank promotion of a constable of police station Nowhatta for his act of courage in saving the lives of people and public property,” he added.
The DGP asked the constabulary to keep up high the traditions of valour and commitment while tackling the emerging situations. “He lauded the role of police for ensuring the distribution of essential supplies among the public during challenging situations. The humane face of the police has been recognized by the public also,” the spokesman said.
The DGP, during his visit was apprised by the concerned field officers about the shortage of vehicles, man-power and other requirements. He assured that all these requirements would be met out immediately and orders in this regard were issued on-the-spot.
