Not delinking

This is in reference to Aijaz Hussain’s letter in response to Firdous Syed’s article “Wish You Well Pakistan” (GK Aug 14). The letter was full of contradictions. Aijaz Hussain is free to present his emotional attachment with Pakistan but 12 million people in Jammu and Kashmir have not given him the mandate to decide their fate. Firdous Syed has not de-linked Pakistan from Kashmir dispute but has delinked Pakistan from the present popular uprising in Kashmir and has advocated that the present uprising in Kashmir is purely indigenous in character and is not abetted by Pakistan as India tries to convey to the global community. Linking present street sentiment with Pakistan's instigation will serve the Indian interest.  Present uprising has received sympathy and recognition across the globe because of its indigenous nature. If India has possessed Kashmir through sheer force what about the azad Kashmir which was also occupied by the tribal and the Pakistani army in October 1947,  thus complicated the Kashmir issue through its short-sighted approach.
