Fearing arrests, students skip tuition classes
TARIQ RASOOL
Bandipora, Aug 25: With parents confining their children to home following indiscriminate arrests by police, the functioning of private tuition centers has been adversely affected these days.
“We don’t send our wards to the centres fearing crack down and arrest by police and armed forces,” the parents told Greater Kashmir. They said, with educational institutions closed, the private tuitions were the only means to receive education during the current unrest.
“I have sent my kid to relatives” said Ghulam Muhammad of Nowpora adding that many people had followed his idea of saving their children from arrests and subsequent torture. “I teach Zoology to about 200 students of class 11th and 12th. Though they managed to come during restrictions, but immediately after the police crackdowns, they stopped to attend tuitions,” said a teacher.
