Vohra reviews relief measures in Leh

Leh: The Governor, N N Vohra today took stock of the loss of life and property due to flash floods and the status of relief and rehabilitation measures launched for the affected persons.
 In a meeting, Vohra was briefed about the measures taken for the restoration of public utility services like drinking water and power supply, healthcare services, road connectivity, telecommunication, irrigation infrastructure, availability of essential commodities, other required rehabilitation measures.
 Vohra stressed the need for formulating an itemized action plan and ensuring its time-bound implementation, particularly with regard to the reconstruction of homes. He said, the high altitude and far-flung areas should be serviced first of all.
 The DC, Leh informed Vohra about the stock position of food grains in the district and said efforts were underway to secure the timely supply of construction materials and other essential commodities. Vohra stressed the need of the required measures being taken for the restoration of flood affected agricultural land.
 He said a team of experts from the SKUAST, Kashmir, shall be asked to visit Leh and its surrounding areas for extending technical advise for the urgent reclamation of the flood affected lands which are presently assessed at about 3500-4000 acres.
