Shun obduracy; resolve Kashmir: Mir to GoI
Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R), senior vice-chairman, Javed Ahmad Mir on Friday asked the New Delhi to shed its rigid stand on Kashmir and resolve the dispute according to the peoples’ aspirations.
Addressing a Friday congregation at Abiguzar Bund, Mir accused New Delhi of double standards while dealing with resolution of the vexed dispute.
Mir said the party had been impressing upon India and international community to accept the disputed nature of Kashmir. He said 13 years ago, the party had suggested that UN should monitor Kashmir for ten years.
Mir said in the Parliament yesterday, there were diverse comments on the prevailing situation. “While PM Dr Manmohan Singh termed the Kashmir issue as political, Dr Farooq Abdullah maintained that Kashmir is an integral part of India. This shows how divided New Delhi is on Kashmir,” he said.
