After Omar, Soz pitches in as facilitator
‘Cong to fill Saroori’s post’
Jammu, Aug 28: A day after chief minister Omar Abdullah said the state government would facilitate dialogue at various levels to find solution to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir, the state president of the Congress and former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz said Congress would play the role of a facilitator in the process of dialogue and discussion to evolve consensus on the resolution of the problem.
“Congress favours dialogue between different shades of opinion in the state and the centre to find a solution to the problem, acceptable to the three regions of the state,” Prof Soz said at a party convention in Samba Saturday.
Soz said strengthening Congress is his primary responsibility, “as a strong Congress is a guarantee for a strong and stable coalition in the state.”
Expressing satisfaction over the “perfect harmony and understanding amongst the coalition partners – NC and Congress”, Soz said the coalition is running smoothly.
Soz said the vacancy created in the council of ministers in the state in the wake of dismissal of G M Saroori would be filled up by the party soon. "The vacancy created in the council of ministers would be filled up by the Congress soon," Soz said.
Saroori was sacked on August 26 after he refused to heed a Congress high command directive to resign in the wake of a row over alleged use of an impersonator by his daughter during a medical entrance test.
