CPI blames Centre for Kashmir situation
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Sivaganga, Aug 2: Blaming the Centre for the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Communist Party of India General Secretary A B Bardhan today said all the initiatives taken so far to win the goodwill of the people had been damaged by the "killing of innocent people" in firing by security forces.
Bardhan said the government should have taken some immediate steps, but the Cabinet Committee on Security met only last night, long after the violence erupted in the state.
"This shows that the Centre does not care about the issue," he told reporters here.
The women and children were losing faith in the security forces, he claimed, adding the Central and Jammu and Kashmir Governments should take full responsibility for the same.
He suggested Kashmir should be given full autonomy.
